  2. Hi Julia. I am a fan of your blog, it is great! I really enjoyed meeting you and John on Sunday. You inspired me to get my camera out of the bag and into my hands, so yesterday I hiked Dewey Hill and brought my camera along with me…..yea! I feel like I learned so much more with the camera in my hands yesterday than reading for hours on end about the technicals of the camera and everything else photography. I have a picture from my hike that I wanted to share with you, but I have not figured out how to upload a photo on here. For the life of me I cannot figure out why, though, my images are coming out pixelated. I start with my images in Lightroom, some batches are pixelated there and some are not. The hotel shoot I did and brought into lightroom are all pixelated in lightroom; now the batch from my hike look great in lightroom, but when I export them they are full of noise…..it is makes me crazy!! Ahyhow, the aaahhh haa moment will hit me and when it does I will let you know what I was doing wrong 🙂

Thank you for sharing this blog! Please tell John I said hi.

    Take care,

    • Hi Somer!

John and I truly enjoyed meeting you! I am so glad you set out on foot with your camera instead of a book! 🙂 Was a beautiful day yesterday! 🙂

As you know, I don’t know anything about light room but have you compared what settings you were on for each of the different pictures that might give you a clue as to the difference between the ones that are pixelated vs. the pictures that aren’t? I wonder (and this is totally a guess) if because you had light from the outdoors, you are getting a Less noisy result. Your ISO settings are probably lower when you are outside. If you set your ISO on a higher number, that always contributes to the noise of a photo which is typically what you have to do in a “darker” environment. I am sure you probably already know this but thought it worth mentioning.

Our daughter is a Graphic Designer and marketing guru. If you don’t mind, I would like to send her the info you sent me and see if she has any suggestions.

I am soooo glad you had fun playing with your camera! I like to read about photography but there is nothing more valuable than actually doing it and learning from your own mistakes (which I have plenty of proof in my photo album of mine! ) 🙂

Maybe we can get together sometime and take an adventure to shoot together and have coffee afterwards to chat! 🙂

I will have to see if I have a setting I need to enable to let you load your photo.. I would love to see it. For now, Send it to me via email and I will upload it on the blog if you are ok with that. Thanks!
